A couple of months ago I did this video for Nora Kelly's band called Nora Kelly Band. Kelly is a funny name, I haven't heard of anyone with the name Kelly in ages. In High School there was this total HOTTIE guy named Kelly who had the perfect gelled blonde hair, I was really jealous and wished I had that kinda hair for years! Mine was curly and jewish and not cool at all. Kelly was what nowadays people would call a "Chad" but there was already a literal Chad and it was his best friend who ALSO had gelled perfect hair but he had frosted blonde tips unlike Kelly's very blonde hair. I'm just remembering now how one time Chad pulled his shorts down in gym class and showed me his balls for some reason and damn, little did I know then that the image would be burnt into my memory for maybe the rest of my life. I hope no one invents a mind reader machine in the future and the cops are like, why do u have a 15 year olds balls in here?? Chad never actually spoke to me (just the showing thing) until sk8boarding became kinda cool and me and my new sk8boarding friends rode our sk8boards to Maddy's house-party where Chad was in a hot tub with all the girls who were at the party. Thanks mostly to stuff like Avril Lavignes "sk8r boi" Chad acknowledged me for the first time and later that night (I think) I got to make out with my introverted crush, Kelsey, which was an even bigger deal that later became my prom date! I almost forgot to say, this was also the first time I ever got drunk! We drank Smirnoff mixed with orange juice behind the school before riding our sk8boards to the party where Chad would dap me up from the hot tub. The smell of vodka n OJ still takes me back to that wonderful coming-of-age night. It was basically that movie Superbad mixed with Stand By Me!
So yah, this video was fun cause it was mostly just making props for 3 weeks with the great artist and artisan Tara who helped a ton on the Heaven For Real video. The concept for the video was COMMUNITY PLAY! I watched a bit of Waiting for Guffman for inspo but really I didn't know what to expect. I felt we couldn't really go wrong cause the concept called for bad/fun acting so the only thing that could really go wrong would be GOOD ACTING!? Well I was wrong cause I forgot that I could fuck up the settings on the camera, which i did, so then I spent like a month fixing grainy shit. Fortunately Eddie was there to be the other camera and he didn't fuck up so its a nice mix of good and shit which is kinda everything I do maybe?? HAHAHA!
