NAP EYES VID HUGE SUCCESS!

Last year the band Nap Eyes (who also happen 2 be my friends and have the names Josh, Nigel, Seamus and Brad) asked me to do a video for their new album. Actually, maybe I asked them? I was at Josh n Allies house for someones birthday. I think it must have been a nacho party cause that is now a v special tradition when going to Josh N Allies.. I'd say I've eaten about 10-15 plates of nachos at their house and you'd think that that is the location in which I've eaten the most nachos in my life but you are FOR SURE wrong if you think that because I once had a job at a restaurant in Vancouver called "The Foundation" and their specialty was nachos and bad service. I was into both! I always say it was my fav job cause I was a server who just got to eat nachos but I guess my job as an EXTREMELY successful and award winning animator is better? Maybe if there was a job being an animator at a nacho restaurant then I'd be fully living the life. Yah, ANYWAYS so I remember I asked Seamus if they had any songs that needed a video cause I really needed 2 find me a gig and at the party he played me the song Dark Mystery Enigma Bird and I was like WOAH it's the perfect animation song. Twiddly flute really does it for me. I also love that open road summer feeling, no worries down under vibe. It reminds me of being 18 and riding a bike listening to the Sea and Cake and being reminded of being 15 and riding a skateboard listening to Pinback and being reminded of sitting with a discman in the back of my parents car at 12 and listening to Sublime and DMX and then being like 8 driving my hog down route 66 and listening to Dire Straits and getting arrested for having an expired license. 10 days in the summer slammer listening to pipes drip and cell doors shlang open and closed. I get a crazy nostalgic feeling now when I hear a jumbo ring of keys jangle in an empty hallway.

SO yeah I did this video and I got a BIG GRANT! I dont know if I should say here on my public diary how much I got cause i don't want my super punk friends to think I'm a rich asshole who only will do a video for 8K but I also don't want some, like, fancy industry people to think I'm an absolute sucker who would spend 3 months doing a video for the amount of money they prob spend getting a graphic designer to do their album cover.

So yah, the vid was a big success and it got VIMEO STAFF PICK and it also got me 2 AWARDS (update: 5!!) as everyone following my social media account now knows about very very well. Probably a bigger success than the video was the reaction to me saying that it won awards. I swear over a 100 people messaged me congratulation for winning these awards and every time I did a big speech about how it's not THAT big of a deal.
